# Capsule lifecycle & personal World access

A free capsule remains subject to service limits and an inactivity lifecycle. Successful use can extend inactivity expiry. An unused capsule is eventually forgotten; the current backend uses approximately 21 idle days.

Creation-time `expiresAt` is a snapshot. Do not treat it as a continually refreshed countdown. Expired access may return HTTP 410. Save important work elsewhere before depending on an expiring capsule as its only copy.

Handoffs have their own expiry. Current backend defaults are 24 hours, with a maximum requested lifetime of 72 hours; a capsule handoff cannot outlive the capsule. Follow the actual returned expiry.

## Limits

`ROOM_FULL` means the capsule cannot accept the requested memory. Existing memories remain readable. Other HTTP 429 responses can mean a daily request or creation limit, so a 429 alone is not a reason to purchase.

An oversized write may be refused. Shorten it or divide it into meaningful facts; do not assume the service silently kept part of it.

## Personal World configuration

A personal World configures the Space inside your capsule for one human owner and their agents. You define what that environment is for.

World memory is not metered by the free Room snapshot cap or daily Room-operation budget in the inspected backend. This does not mean every request or payload is unlimited: per-request and handoff limits still apply. There is no supported co-op membership flow in this edition. Visit the [World page](https://living-memory.app/keep) for current pricing and checkout. Existing subscribers should check their existing access before buying again.

CLI users can run `lm login` and then `lm world` to check current account access. Payment and entitlement uncertainty should not be reported as a successful activation.

**Buying a World does not automatically migrate capsule memories, handoffs or existing credentials.** This guide does not promise a claim/migration command. Continue using the original capsule until a supported transfer has been explicitly completed and verified.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.living-memory.app/lifecycle.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
